Definition

The fraction of capital that actually returns for redeployment. Distinguished from theoretical recycling rate by measuring empirical rather than projected returns.

Formula

R_a = Capital Returned / Capital Deployed (historical)

Example

A PSC fund with 85% historical pay-forward rate has R_a = 0.85. Traditional grants have R_a = 0 (no capital returns).
